Spring is here, and that means spring cleaning. The weather is turning, and the days are staying bright well into the evening. It is the perfect moment to shake off the winter dust and give your apartment a total reset.

Spring cleaning doesn't have to be a grueling weekend marathon. When you live in an apartment, it is all about working smarter and focusing on the areas that make the biggest impact. Here are five simple hacks to help you refresh your space without losing your entire weekend to tidying up.
1. The High To Low Rule
Dust follows the laws of gravity. If you start by vacuuming your rugs and then move to dusting your ceiling fans or bookshelves, you are just going to have to vacuum all over again. Always start at the very top of a room and work your way down to the floor. By the time you reach for the mop or the vacuum, you will be catching every last bit of debris that fell during the process.

2. Set a Fifteen-Minute Timer
Large cleaning projects feel overwhelming because we look at the whole apartment at once. Instead of trying to clean everything, pick one specific spot, like your junk drawer or the cabinet under the sink. Set a timer for fifteen minutes and go all out. You will be surprised at how much you can get done when the clock is ticking. Once the timer dings, you are allowed to stop. Usually, that initial burst of energy is enough to keep you going.
3. Let The Light In
During the winter, we tend to keep our blinds closed to stay cozy. Now is the time to give your windows some love. Use a simple mixture of water and a little bit of dish soap to wipe down the glass. Do not forget to wipe the tracks and the windowsill too. Cleaning your windows is one of those small tasks that makes the entire room feel ten times brighter and more open instantly.

4. Refresh Your Soft Surfaces
We often remember to scrub the counters, but forget about the things that actually hold onto odors. Take a look at your throw pillows, curtains and rugs. If they are machine washable, toss them in. If not, a quick sprinkle of baking soda left for twenty minutes before vacuuming can work wonders. Giving your fabrics a refresh will make your apartment smell amazing without needing to light a single candle.
5. The One In One Out Method
Spring is the best season to evaluate what you actually use. As you clean, keep a box by the door. If you come across an item that you have not touched since last April, it might be time to let it go. Donating clothes or kitchen gadgets you no longer need clears up physical space and makes your home feel much lighter. Plus, it makes your next deep clean that much easier.

Getting a fresh start should feel good, not like a chore. Grab a great playlist, open up your balcony door for some fresh air and take it one room at a time. Your home will be sparkling before you know it.
