Summertime is the perfect opportunity for weekend trips. There are so many places near the Siouxland area that are perfect destinations for weekend fun!
Omaha, NE
Omaha is about an hour drive from Sioux City and is such a fun place to visit. The Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium is a favorite amongst many Siouxlanders. The Old Market downtown is super live. There are hotels, restaurants and places to shop all within walking distance of each other. The adventures in Omaha are endless!
Des Moines, IA
Des Moines is a fun city! The drive is about 2 hours and 45 minutes! The Des Moines Farmers Market is huge. There are so many vendors and it is actually located right by the State Capitol which is always cool to see! The downtown scene in Des Moines is fun! There are so many bars, restaurants and hang out places that people love to go to. While you are there, be sure to stop by the Des Moines Art Center as well.
Sioux Falls, SD
The drive to Sioux Falls is about 1 hour and 30 minutes away. If you like to be outdoors in the summer then this city is for you. Falls Park is a beautiful place to walk around. It includes a waterfall and some sculptures, and even a gift shop. Another popular place to visit is The Great Plains Zoo & Delbridge Museum. There are so many cool animals to see including a handful of endangered species.
Kansas City, MO
Kansas City is a little further away at about 4 hours, but is still a super fun getaway location. One big reason people go to Kansas City is for the amusement park, Worlds of Fun! The park also includes Oceans of Fun, so don’t forget your swim stuff! The National World War 1 Museum is there and is talked about throughout the country. It is a pretty cool place to visit and learn. The Country Club Plaza is a huge favorite. It includes hotels, dining, amazing shopping, and always has an event going on.
